South Stand Flag Project

2 June 2019

A group of Town fans have set up a crowdfunder to fund the purchase of flags for pre-match displays in the South Stand in a bid to boost the atmosphere at home games.

Launched on Friday May 31st, the project is the brainchild of 15 year-old Town fan Scott Edwards, who plays the drum in the club's safe standing section. Scott's idea has now been bought to fruition by fellow South Stand season ticket holders and has been met with enthusiasm among Town fans across social media - so much so that the £500 target was met barely 24 hours after the launch. The target for the crowdfunder has now been extended to £1000 which if raised, the group state, will all go towards creating an even bigger spectacle which they hope will help boost the atmosphere in the stand and the stadium as a whole.

William Smith, a season ticket holder in block 9 who helped get the project off the ground said "we've been really impressed with the response from Town fans so far. We're lucky enough to have safe standing so this will help make the most of it. With the target being smashed, we'll hopefully be able to involve people across the whole stand too"

Set up independently, the project was highlighted to the club through the Supporters' Parliament, and both are happy to give their backing to the crowdfunder.

Anybody wishing to contribute can do so by visiting crowdfunder.co.uk/southstandflags and supporters can keep tabs on the project by following @southstandflags on twitter or by visiting the group's website: southstandflags.com
