Post Fleetwood | Tunmise Sobowale

1 January 2024

Tunmise Sobowale met with the press following our 3-1 win against Fleetwood.

Goals from Nohan Kenneh, Chey Dunkley and Jordan Shipley saw Town secure a convincing victory at the Croud Meadow.

Tunmise starred in the game playing in a new role as part of our front three.

Speaking after the game he talked about the win itself, the importance of scoring two before half-time and playing further forward.

Tunmise said: "I enjoyed every minute of it. I was speaking to some of the lads before the game and we knew there was a lot of pressure on us to get the three points today, but our heads were on it from minute one to the end.

“I thought we applied ourselves well, put pressure on them and we’re happy to get the three points.

“Going into the game we knew that if we could get the first goal or just start the game with a lot of energy and momentum then a goal’s going to go in eventually.

"And as soon as Nohan Kenneh got the first one, I had a feeling it was going to be our day.

“The second goal then came out of nowhere and we all went in at half-time saying the same thing – 'it’s a good start but the game’s not finished we’re going back out applying ourselves like it’s 0-0 again.'

“Luckily we got the next goal which then takes a little bit of pressure off our shoulders knowing that we’re cruising a little bit but knowing the game can always change.

“I'm happy to get three goals but not getting the clean sheet hurt us a little bit because, from the management and ourselves, we've set ourselves a goal to get a certain amount of clean sheets for the season.

“But getting three points was the most important thing today and I’m happy we got that.”
