Pre-Exeter | Rayhaan Tulloch

12 March 2024

After signing on a short-term deal until the end of the 2023/24 season, Rayhaan Tulloch met with the press for the first time to speak about joining the club and his career to date.

The 23-year-old move to Salop was announced on Saturday just before our clash with Port Vale, a game in which Town picked up three important points.

An attacking player, Rayhaan had spent his whole career at West Bromwich Albion, starting when he was eight years old and ending with his departure in January.

With loan spells at Doncaster Rovers, Rochdale, Bradford City and Dundalk under his belt, Rayhaan also has experience as an England Youth international.

Speaking to BBC Radio Shropshire, Town's latest recruit discussed his new contract and his career to date, as well as providing a view on the weekend's win and our upcoming home matches against Exeter City and Carlisle United.

ON BEING A SHREWSBURY TOWN PLAYER:

“I’m looking forward to it. Obviously I came in a few weeks ago and trained with the boys and it’s been good.

“It’s a good group and they’ve welcomed me very well.

“I’m buzzing, it’s a good opportunity. Obviously I’ve just left my previous club where I was for a while, but this is a fresh start and I’m looking forward to it.

ON COMING IN AND HAVING TO IMPRESS VERY QUICKLY:

“It’s different. It’s a challenge but it’s exciting.

“I was looking forward to it quite a bit when I heard about the opportunity.

ON HIS EARLY IMPRESSIONS OF THE CLUB:

“It’s nice, everyone has welcomed me very well and it’s a good group. The banter’s great as well which is a plus!

ON BEING ON THE BENCH ON SATURDAY:

“It was a good win and the team played really well. It was a positive performance I would say.

“Now we just need to kick on and enjoy the match tomorrow.”

ON HIS TARGETS FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON:

“I want to get as many minutes as possible and help the team win as many games as possible.”

“I think the better you perform the better it is for you but also it’s better for the team and it’s a team sport at the end of the day.

“That’s the main thing, helping the team.”

ON HIS TIME AT WEST BROM:

“It was good, I met loads of great people.

“I was there from the age of about eight years old I think so all my friends are from there and it holds a special place in my heart.

“I’m just looking forward to moving on to my next chapter.”

ON HIS TIME AS AN ENGLAND YOUTH INTERNATIONAL:

“It was good. Obviously a lot of the players I played with then are in the Premier League now and that’s everyone’s goal.

“Hopefully I can get there one day.”

ON HIS LOAN SPELLS”

“Some of them were a bit challenging. I didn’t always play as much as I wanted to but that’s all part and parcel of football.

“You just need to move on and do what you need to do to get to the next level.”

ON HIS SPELL AT DUNDALK:

“A great club - loads of great people.

“It was a different experience playing through the summer but it was good, very good.”

ON HIS TIME AT BRADFORD EARLIER THIS SEASON:

“It was good too. I’m quite lucky that everywhere I’ve been have had a good group.”

ON THIS WEEK’S TWO HOME GAMES:

“We’ve got a good opportunity this week to push ourselves up the table.

“I think Exeter are just above us in the table so a win puts us above them so it’s another good opportunity for us to achieve what we want to achieve.”

ON WHAT TOWN FANS CAN EXPECT FROM HIM:

“Hopefully goals! I want to be exciting, get fans off their seats and stuff like that.

“I like to play anywhere in attack, left-wing, right-wing, as a ten, whichever.”
