McAlinden set for loan

Young Wolves striker to join ahead of Gillingham

Shrewsbury Town manager Graham Turner is set to bring in his second striker in as many days after agreeing with Wolverhampton Wanderers to take youngster Liam McAlinden on an initial 3 month youth loan.
 
His arrival, dependent on the completion of the paperwork, follows swiftly on from Town snapping up Huddersfield's Spanish striker Cristian Lopez.
 
McAlinden, 20, made his first team debut for Wolves as a substitute against Burnley in April.
 
He has played three senior games for the Molineux club this season, scoring his first goal in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy against Walsall last month.
 
McAlinden was born in Cannock but represented Northern Ireland at youth levels, being eligible through his grandfather.

It gives manager Graham Turner another good player as Town's attacking options look at lot stronger ahead of the Gillingham game:"Liam is a player I've watched over the last 18 months and he has really developed over that time.

"We've been asking about him since the start of the season and it's good to finally have him on board."
