GT pleased about Woods

11 June 2013

Graham Turner is pleased to have resolved the future of Ryan Woods and says talks are ongoing with the three players still to sign who he has offered new deals to.

Woods, who has emerged from the club's youth ranks, made the breakthrough to the first team in the closing weeks of last season.

And GT stressed he was happy the young midfielder had followed in the recent footsteps of Aaron Wildig and Tom Bradshaw by pledging their future to the club.

"I'm pleased with that and Ryan's got a lot of potential," said the manager. "He got a little bit of first team experience at the back end of last season with two late substitute appearances in our last two games.

"I've just got a feeling about the lad as he sees a good pass, he executes it well, he's busy, he's a tenacious midfield player and I just feel there's some potential there.

"We would like to see that potential come out.

"Whenever he came as a youth player to train with our first team squad he never looked out of place. He stood his ground and put his foot in against the senior players and did extremely well.

"Some of the games he's played in the reserves have been outstanding so we're hopeful he will become a good player."

GT is now working towards holding on to Jon Taylor, Connor Goldson and Jermaine Grandison who have all received offers of a new contract to stay at the Greenhous Meadow.

"Over the last 24 hours I've had talks with Jon Taylor and Connor Goldson," he said. "Jon has gone away to think about the offer made to him and there's a little bit of an impasse with Connor at the moment.

"I met with Jermaine's agent earlier in the week and talks are ongoing. It's a difficult situation because it looks as though he could be out for anything up to six months."
