Simon Haworth joins on voluntary basis to help coach the strikers

Micky Mellon has added to his coaching staff for next season with experienced striker Simon Haworth joining on a voluntary basis.

Haworth was born in Cardiff and made his debut for his home town club in 1995.  He then had spells with Coventry City, Wigan Athletic and Tranmere Rovers making nearly 250 appearances and scoring finding the net over 90 times before injury cut short his playing career.

It’s more good news for Town manager Micky Mellon as he looks to prepare his pre-season planning:”He just wants to be involved with myself and the football club, and he's going to be doing some work with the strikers.

"I believe (being a striker) is specialist position and it is an area that I believe if we do a bit extra work and work a bit harder to get that quality we can score a few more goals. Hopefully it will pay dividends."

Mellon added that Haworth has also worked recently with Everton manager Roberto Martinez and Wigan Athletic boss Uwe Rosler.
