Micky Mellon Named As Manager

Mellon takes over as Manager with Mike Jackson and Danny Coyne assisting

Shrewsbury Town is pleased to confirm the appointment of Micky Mellon as the club’s new first-team manager. 

The former Fleetwood Town boss and Barnsley assistant manager has been appointed on a one year rolling contract. 

Mellon, will be assisted by his former team mates and current Shrewsbury staff Michael Jackson and Danny Coyne and will be tasked with returning to League One. 

Shrewsbury Town Chairman, Roland Wycherley, stated: “We are delighted to confirm Micky as our new first-team manager. 

“As a club we carefully considered our next step because it was a very important decision for our football club. But having gone through that process, we agreed that Micky fitted our brief perfectly.

“Micky represents all the strong values we hold so dearly as a football club, he is a very passionate person and everyone is looking forward to working with him. 

“We have all been impressed with his enthusiasm and ideas and we are confident of a successful time together.”

Andy Morrell and chief scout Clive Richards have left and the club would like to go on record with thanks for both of them for their hard work during their time with the club.
