Boss keen to keep Goldson and Bradshaw

Micky Mellon hopeful that Connor and Tom will remain at the GM

Micky Mellon is hopeful that both Connor Goldson and Tom Bradshaw, two men who have been offered new contracts to stay at Shrewsbury Town, will remain at the Greenhous Meadow.

The manager was encouraged with the talks he held with defender Goldson earlier this week but has not been able to speak to Bradshaw yet as the striker is away on holiday.

Micky said: "Connor came in to see me and I had a really good conversation with him and his agent, speaking about his situation moving forward.

"He was happy with the conversation we had and I told him how I would like to manage him and coach him, how I believed I could make him better, what areas we believe we could make him better in.

"I also asked where he saw his progress going, how he was going to achieve that, so we had a very good conversation.

"We shook hands and I told him to enjoy the rest of his summer - and I'm expecting to see him at pre-season training."

As for Bradshaw, Micky is also keen to keep the striker at the club.

"He's still on holiday - he's having the longest holiday ever known to man," smiled the manager.

"It's a situation that I've not been able to be a part of as yet. Tom again is a young player who I would like to think would want to be part of this project after what happened last season.

"I would love to be able to think that he would want to come back and play a part in resurrecting the football club if you like from what happened last season and what part he played in that.

"I haven't had the chance to speak to him but he is a lad I would like to be part of what we do."
