Micky happy with recruitment as he continues to build his squad

Micky Mellon is pleased with the progress he continues to make in putting together a new and exciting Shrewsbury Town squad.

The manager has already brought in eight new players and hopes to add another in the next few days after revealing he has a gentleman's agreement in place over another of his transfer targets.

Micky said: "We had all of these targets from pretty much the first week that I came into the building.

"It's been a long process on some of them but others we have got done quicker.

"We've got a gentleman's agreement on another that we hope's going to happen in the next few days. How strong a gentleman's agreement is these days is up to whoever the two gentleman are, but I trust that we've agreed on something.

"I'm pleased where we're at. We haven't rushed anything. We've thoroughly gone through all of the players we've brought in.

"I know as much as I can through watching DVDs and from speaking to people about the lads still here from last season so I'm really excited about the group.

"I still want to add to it, still add bits of quality to the group, but it's certainly in a better place than when I walked in."
