Goldson excited about Molineux clash

Connor looking forward to the test at his hometown club

Shrewsbury Town defender Connor Goldson only lives 10 minutes from Wolves' Molineux stadium as he looks forward to playing there for the first time on Saturday.

Goldson used to watch Wolves regularly with his dad and was part of the club's youth set up as a schoolboy before joining Shrewsbury.

Now he's excited at the prospect of trying to end Wolves' nine game winning streak which has taken them to the top of the League One table.

"It's a massive game for me, more for my family," said Goldson. "My dad's a massive Wolverhampton fan. He's been going to the games and taking me to the games since I was a kid so it's a big game for my family.

"I remember the Premier League days. My dad was there every week and I would go with him from about six to 14.

"It's a big ground, the fans are good there, they're loud, but at the same time the fans can turn quickly.

"If you quieten them for 20 minutes and there's a few bad passes, the fans can turn very quick and we know that. That's a part that we need to work on for Saturday."

The central defender felt Town's second half display against Crawley on Tuesday night should have produced three points.

He said picking up a result at Molineux could really help revive Town's fortunes.

"It could be the changing point of our season if we go there and get a result," added Goldson.

"They've won nine games in a row so if we go there and get a draw or a win I'm sure you will see the morale in the camp boosted.

"We've then got another massive game on Tuesday at Colchester but if we can go to Wolves and put in a good performance and hopefully get a result then it could be the changing point in our season."
