Ryan Woods extends contract

Option kicks in to extend Woodsey's contract by a year

Ryan Woods is looking forward to trying to help Shrewsbury Town bounce straight back up to League One after his deal with the club has been extended.

Playing so many games this season activated a clause in the 20-year-old's existing contract which will keep him at the Greenhous Meadow for at least another season.

Woods said he was pleased to have played so many games for Town in League One and he now wants to play his part in a much more successful season next term.

"On a personal level, I had a very good season and I can always look back on how it went for me and be happy with it, but it was all about keeping Shrewsbury Town in League One and unfortunately we didn't manage to do that.

"We've just got to look to bounce back now next season.

"I've never played in League Two before but I obviously watched a lot of games in the division when I was coming through the youth system.

"The club will bring new players in over the summer and we'll see what happens."

Woods, 20, played 43 matches, including sub appearances, over the season as he made the breakthough to become a regular first teamer.

He said: "I learnt a lot over the season and probably experienced just about everything you can.

"I'm going to just try and improve as much as I can and will hopefully come back a little bit stronger."
