Greenhous Meadow injury latest

14 January 2014

Latest on Wildig, Goldson, McAllister, Summerfield, Grandison.

Graham Turner is monitoring the fitness of several members of his Shrewsbury Town first team squad in the build up to Saturday's home game with Rotherham United.

Connor Goldson suffered a broken nose in the closing stages of last weekend's 3-2 defeat at MK Dons but the manager said he expects him to be available to face Rotherham.

"When you watch it on the DVD, it was not the best of challenges from their striker," said Graham. "He's led with the elbow and it's a broken nose.

"But Connor's a tough lad and has not missed training - I think it's slightly improved his looks!

"He's a good lad, he'll get on with it, and there's no problem with him.

"Connor might well put a mask on just to protect his nose because it is in a bit of a state at the moment so we'll explore that possibility."

Of the other injured players, Graham revealed mixed news although he expects midfield pair Aaron Wildig and Dave McAllister to also, like Goldson, be available to take on Rotherham.

"It's a difficult situation," said the manager. "Darren Jones got injured in the warm up against Leyton Orient and is still out.

"Jermaine Grandison had been training on consecutive days without too many problems but then played for 15 minutes against Orient and hasn't been seen on the training ground since.

"He's been struggling with a sore hip so that 15 minutes has set him back.

"Luke Summerfield will probably be out for another couple of weeks.

"Aaron Wildig had to come off on Saturday with a thigh injury. We're just nursing him through the week and hopefully he will be fit for the weekend.

"Dave McAllister had a little bit of concussion from an elbow on Saturday but he's okay."
