GT hopeful of additions to the squad this week

Graham Turner continues to work towards bolstering his Shrewsbury Town squad and hopes the search will pay off ahead of Saturday's home match against Rotherham United.

Asked if he was hopeful of having a new face on board to take on the Millers, the manager replied: "Yes, one, possibly two - I would be bitterly disappointed if we haven't added to the squad before the weekend."

GT added: "We've been working hard on it for some time. I've talked about it almost being a domino effect - if one goes down then other deals can go through.

"We've got a number of irons in the fire. We are waiting on clubs to do deals and that will free up one or two players to come out to us so that is the situation at the moment.

"We're still talking about a couple of permanent deals where I've spoken to an agent and we've made an offer. The agent and the players are considering our offers so there are all sorts of areas like that.

"We've taken in one or two players over the last two or three months so some of the hard work has come to fruition even if some of the players haven't performed as well as we would have liked.

"It's a lot of negotiations, talks, patience, frustration, but the work goes on."

The manager added there was also a possibility of departures from the Greenhous Meadow.

"We've got a reserve game today where several of players in contention or several of the players available for loans from here will be figuring," he said.

"We've got six or seven pros in that game and we've sent a circular that there might be one or two players available for permanent transfers or available on loan because I do think we need to change one or two things here."
