Shukers helping Micky to get out and about

Shrewsbury Town manager Micky Mellon has visited Shukers Land Rover at Battlefield in Shrewsbury to collect the keys to his sponsored Land Rover Freelander 2.

Micky met the staff at Shukers, several of them keen Town supporters, and said he was grateful to the company for their support.

He said: "For the club to be supported by local businesses like Shukers Land Rover is fantastic because it's such a big brand so I'm delighted to take the chance to come here and say hello to everybody.

"I'm pleased to get a car to go and do my work now because as football managers we cover an awful lot of miles.

"It's probably a big part of the job that people don't see, the getting home at 2 or 3am in the morning all through the winter when you're going to watch games.

"I'm delighted that a big company like this are supporting the football club."

Micky was pleased to have the chance to meet some of the Shukers staff who told him how much they are looking forward to the new season.

He added: "I spoke to a couple of season ticket holders and they were saying they're very excited about what we're putting together, like I am, so I look forward to the first game on Saturday to let them see a little bit of what we're about early."

Stuart Woolley, Fleet and Business Manager at Shukers, said the company were excited about developing a close relationship with Shrewsbury Town.

He added: "We felt it was the right time to sponsor the football club and I have to say the co-operation from Shrewsbury Town has been absolutely superb.

"We're delighted to hand the car over to Micky.

"It's an exciting time for Shrewsbury Town and certainly an exciting time for Shukers Land Rover.

"I think over the coming months what we've discussed in terms of the way we want to operate our partnership we're going to hopefully be giving more into Shrewsbury as a community and help Shrewsbury Town get out there more in the community."
