Micky: Good To Be Home

Manager looking forward to hosting Carlisle

Manager Micky Mellon is glad to be back at the Greenhous Meadow on Tuesday night as Shrewsbury Town host Carlisle United in Sky Bet League 2.

Town have played their last three games away from home, the most recent being Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Stevenage.

Micky’s side have a perfect record at the Greenhous Meadow this season, however, with four wins from four including one in the Capital One Cup.

And the Town boss is looking forward to playing in front of the home crowd once again on Tuesday evening (7.45pm kick-off).

“We enjoy playing here because it’s a fantastic place to play football and we’ve got a great crowd who will get right behind us,” said Micky.

“We’re still full of confidence, playing well and enjoying our football.

“There always seems to be a different atmosphere here at night, under the lights.

“The things about here is that it’s a big, wide open pitch and there’s no hiding places. You can expose players here by the ability that we have.”

Visitors Carlisle sit bottom of League Two after seven matches and are yet to pick up their first three points.

But Micky still believes the Cumbrians, who were relegated from League One last season, will provide a stern test for his side.

“They’re a very good football side and as good as anything else in the league,” said Micky.

“They get it down and try to pass it and they’ve got some experienced players, so at some stage I totally believe that team is going to start winning games of football.

“We have to make sure we go in there with the right mentality and attitude like the lads do to be fair. We approach the game and go and get a result.

“We know that, if we get those moments right on Tuesday night and we improve on the finishing, we’ll be more than fine.

“It’s always favourable to play at home because we know this pitch better, but that’s not to say that we’re looking for any excuses away from home.”
