Shaun Miller ready for Crewe reunion

17 April 2014

Striker hoping to get his chance against old club

Shaun Miller needs no telling of the importance of Shrewsbury Town's Good Friday clash at home to his former club Crewe Alexandra.

The striker, on loan from Sheffield United, knows it's a vital game for both sides who are currently in the League One relegation zone.

Miller still has many friends at Crewe, the club where he began his career and scored 39 goals in 163 games before moving to Bramall Lane in July 2012.

"I still speak to a few of the lads," he said. "It's where I started my career and I was there from a young age. It will be nice to see everyone again.

"I didn't play in the last game for Sheffield at Crewe so it will be nice to hopefully play against them and there's obviously massive stakes on the game so it will make it interesting.

"Both teams will be going for the win. Nothing less than a win is good enough really at this stage. It will be a massive game, more so for us because we're two points behind so we'll certainly be going for the win."

Miller started his Town spell brilliantly with a stoppage time winner against Bradford but has been on the bench in recent matches after a couple of starts.

He said: "It couldn't have been a better start with that goal and it's just been proving my fitness really to the manager. Hopefully I can get a decent run of games for the last four.

"They're four big games and hopefully I can be a big part in helping Shrewsbury stay up, starting on Friday."

There is another special ticket offer in place for the Crewe game with the club eager to attract a bumper crowd to really get behind the team.

All Greenhous Meadow season ticket holders or anyone who buys a full price ticket for the game can bring an additional adult with them for just £5 or a child under the age of 12 for only £1.

This offer is also available for the last home game of the season against Peterborough on April 26.
