Micky pleased with home draw against Championship side

Micky Mellon has welcomed Shrewsbury Town's home draw against Blackpool in the first round of the Capital One Cup.

The Championship club will visit the Greenhous Meadow in the week beginning August 11 for a tie which will be something of a reunion for several members of the Town staff, including the manager.

Micky said: "I captained Blackpool, Michael Jackson played for Blackpool, Matt Williams of course was Blackpool's secretary and is now our chief executive, and obviously Mark Halstead's come here from Blackpool.

"We're all professionals at the end of the day and it will be a real good challenge for us as a team."

He added: "These are the things that happen in football but you couldn't script it really sometimes.

"I think as far as the football club's concerned it's a great tie for us especially at home and it gives the fans a chance to benchmark us against a serious Championship side here so there's loads of positives about it.

"We've got so much more to think about before it comes along but it's certainly a nice one for the players and ourselves to look forward to."
