Bolton to visit for friendly

Trotters make their first visit to the GM

Bolton Wanderers will head to the Greenhous Meadow for a pre-season friendly on Saturday, July 20 (3pm).

It could mean a quick return to Shrewsbury for Wanderers striker Tom Eaves who enjoyed a successful loan spell at the Meadow last season.

The fixture will also excite Alex McQuade, the defender recently signed by Graham Turner from Bolton.

The Reebok Stadium club, now managed by Dougie Freedman, just missed out on the Championship play-offs last season.

Bolton are the second Championship club to agree to a pre-season trip to the Greenhous Meadow with Birmingham City visiting on Tuesday, July 23 (7.45pm).

"I thought we had three very good games in Wolves, Leicester and Birmingham last year and that's the sort of thing we'll be looking for again this year," said the manager.

"It's always dificult to get the big names now unless you've got a tie in with them. Most of the Premier League clubs spend their pre-season abroad on lucrative tours so it is difficult to get a big club to come here with a full first team.

"But we have got good, solid Championship clubs that will give us a good game."
