Forward hoping to help Town win at York
Forward Andy Mangan believes last weekend's victory over Cheltenham can give Shrewsbury Town the required boost to pick up their first league away win of the season.Town return to Sky Bet League 2 action on Saturday when they travel to Bootham Crescent to face York City (3pm kick off).
And Mangan believes the performance against Cheltenham, which earned Town a 3-1 win, has boosted team spirit following a few tough weeks for the club on the road.
“It was an excellent win (against Cheltenham) and really good for team spirit," said Mangan.
“We’ve probably played better than we did last Saturday and not got the result we deserve.
“But we played well, and the three goals were vital as we have not been scoring recently.
“It was fantastic for confidence and luckily enough I got a tap in myself."
The 28-year-old is refusing to underestimate York, though, who he insisted will be another tough test for Shrews as they look to push on up the table:
“York are a good side and we will go there with all the best interests and do our best, and compete in all areas to hopefully come away with the win," said Mangan.
“We're fantastic at home as everyone knows. Obviously there’s another away game on Saturday and all we can do is go their, do our best and hopefully win the game."
And when speaking about manager Micky Mellon's selection policy, Mangan was quick to insist he would play anywhere for the team.
“Wherever the gaffer wants me to play, I’ll play," said the forward.
“Obviously last weekend I was happy to play down the middle but we have a great squad and I’ll play wherever he wants me to play.
“The gaffer explained early doors in the season that we don’t have a first team and instead he has a first team squad, and that’s what we’ve gone with over the season."
