Young Defender Joins On Loan

Fulham defender adds to Micky's options

Micky Mellon has confirmed that he has added to his defensive options by bringing in young defender Jack Grimmer in from Fulham on a month’s loan.

Grimmer is a Scottish U21 who made his first team debut for Aberdeen while he was still 16 years of age.  He made the switch to English football two years later when then Premier League side Fulham on a three year deal joining their development squad.  He spent a while with Port Vale at the start of this year making 14 starts before being recalled by Fulham.

With the form of Jermaine Grandison and with Dave McAllister going out on loan Micky Mellon wanted to bring in some cover and competition in the right-back position and Jack fits that bill perfectly.

Jack has been registered in time for today’s game at York City and the Town gaffer is pleased to have him onboard:”Jack is a lad who we have monitored for a while and he’s a young play with great qualities.

“With Dave McAllister going to Stevenage it gives us that opportunity to bring in someone who will help the balance of the squad.

“I want to keep Jermaine in the centre-back position as we see his development as a centre-back and don’t want to put him at right-back if at all possible.

“Jack brings that competition to the full-back and wing-back areas with only Cameron as a recognised player in that position.

“He’s young but has experience playing in the Scottish league and on loan at Port Vale so he’s ready if needed.”

Jack will have the squad number 24 and he is cleared to be available for the Capital One Cup.
