Goldson ready for Bolton test

19 July 2013

Connor looking for good test on Saturday

Connor Goldson believes Saturday's pe-season clash at home to Bolton Wanderers will be a good yardstick of where Shrewsbury are in their preparations for the new season.

Having faced Turkish giants Galatasaray and then Liverpool's development squad - Goldson scored the second goal in a 2-0 win on Merseyside on Tuesday - the defender reckons the visit of Championship club Bolton will be a good test.

"The games that we've played so far have been hard games," said Goldson. "Both Galatasaray and Liverpool under-21s like to pass the ball and keep a good shape but hopefully this will be more on our wavelength, the kind of football that they play.

"It should be more suitable to us and hopefully we can give a good account of ourselves and get a good result."

Goldson is interested to see if Tom Eaves, who did so well on loan to Town last season, will feature for Dougie Freedman's side.

And he stressed he rated the powerful young Bolton striker highly.

"Tom did well when he came here last season," said Goldson. "He's a goalscorer and on his day he can be very hard to handle. He's got everything.

"Obviously he's still very young but if he puts all that together he's got a very good career ahead of him."
