Micky Delighted After Win Over Walsall

19 November 2014

Manager hails a great team effort

Manager Micky Mellon was delighted with Shrewsbury Town's performance after they edged past Walsall  1-0 to advance to the FA Cup Second Round.

A stunning second-half strike from Liam Lawrence was enough for Town to win the game on the night and secure a tie against Preston North End at Deepdale in the next round.

And Micky was thrilled by both the quality of the goal and the performance of his side on the way to victory.

“It was a terrific finish, the move building up to it was great to and to finish it with a finish like that was fantastic," said Micky.

“But to be honest I am delighted with them all, it was a real great team effort.

“We are a group. We don’t speak about individuals, and as a collective group we were superb tonight and well worth a victory."

But Micky is not getting ahead of himself and is remaining focused.

“It's great for the fans to keep things moving forward and I am delighted for the players because the FA Cup is important," he said.

“But we have some really important league games, and as I always say, I will deal with things game by game, half by half.

“We have a really tough game against Exeter at the weekend and now we are concentrating on that."
