Jacko hoping to involve youngsters at Gillingham
Mike Jackson is considering involving some of the club's younger players in his plans for Shrewsbury Town's final game of the season at Gillingham on Saturday.
The manager said he had been impressed with the likes of goalkeeper Callum Burton, defender Dom Smith, midfielder Niall Flint and winger Josh Ginnelly.
They are all pushing to be involved in the squad at the Priestfield Stadium and if any of them do play a part this weekend it would be a Football League debut for the teenagers.
"We're going to take a couple with us and I'm hoping we can get a couple involved," said Jacko. "It depends how the game's going but we'll try and get them some game time even if it's for five minutes, to get them on the pitch.
"A lot of them have worked really hard and four or five of the first year apprentices have trained with us for the last three or four months just to make the numbers up and they've done great.
"If we can get them on the pitch, even take them with us for the experience, that will be great.
"Josh Ginnelly might be one, Dom Smith, Niall Flint, they're three at the moment that we might think that we're probably going to take down with us.
"It would be nice for Callum Burton as well if we could so we've got to look at that in terms of can we get him on the bench if possible so it's something I'm thinking about."
