Reports from Luton game are being looked into
Shrewsbury Town Football Club and Shrewsbury Police are investigating a complaint of racial behaviour by home supporters at Saturday’s game against Luton Town.The club received the complaint at half time and informed the Police present in the stadium. Enquires will now be made by the club and Police with a view to identifying the offenders and they will be dealt with them accordingly.
Anyone identified and found guilty risks receiving a football banning order and an additional club ban. The club asks that anyone with information contact Shrewsbury Police on 101, Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or the club on 01743 289177.
Shrewsbury Town stadium manager Alan Roberts reaffirmed the club's zero tolerance policy to any form of discrimination during games at the Greenhous Meadow.
He said: "The club has a zero policy on racism and any other form of discrimination and will always work with the Police and Supporters to eliminate this. The vast majority of supporters are a credit to the club both home and away and we urge them to report any incidents.
“Should supporters hear language they feel is racist or discriminatory they should inform any steward as soon as possible so the offender can be identified. If they wish to remain anonymous they can contact Crimestoppers on the above number quoting the description of the offender and seat number if possible or use the Kick It Out app.”
