Jordan Beech becomes the new Academy Physio
New Youth Team physio Jordan Beech has outlined his ambitions for Shrewsbury’s Town’s youngsters as he settles into his new role at the club.Beech arrives from League Two Carlisle United to become a part of the Town Academy’s new look staff, which is beginning to take shape after a deluge of departures over the previous few months.
Beech expressed his excitement at joining the set up at Greenhous Meadow, and revealed his goals whilst he works with a talented group of young players.
“I’m delighted, I couldn’t be happier to be here”, said Jordan.
“When I came down for my interview and I met AJ [Andy Jones] and Skitty [Chris Skitt], I knew this was where I wanted to be.
“I see this as another stepping stone in my career, I’m here to try and help the lads to get that professional contract, that’s what I want to give to them.”
The role of a youth physio is much different to that of the medical staff that work with the first team, as Beech explains.
“They’re on the scholarship and they’re looking to make that next step to a professional contract so they’ve got to work hard.”
He continued: “The main thing is that they don’t really understand their bodies as much as someone who is a 10-year professional.
“They will get aches and pains which feel like something serious but it’s just because they’ve not felt it before.”
Despite only having spent a short time at the club, Beech is highly impressed by what he has seen so far, and he praised the U18 squad for the work that they’ve put in so far.
“It’s a really good club. The first team staff are top class, the academy staff are top class, everyone is really welcoming and has bent over backwards to give me everything I’ve needed to hit the ground running.
“The lads are really good, I couldn’t have asked for more of them, they’re different class, they work really hard."
