Allocated spaces to remain for 2016/17 season
Shrewsbury Town announced recently that we were looking at trialing changes into the way the car park at the Greenhous Meadow operated for the upcoming season by not having designated parking bays for ticket holders. On average over last season an average of 200 spaces were unused on matchdays and the aim was to be able to sell these to add extra income to the club and to assist with local parking issues away from the stadium.We received a lot of feedback and questions about the proposed changes and it seemed that there was a lot of confusion as to the changes and how they would be implemented. Many ambulant supporters expressed concerns of the impact the proposed trial would have on them.
The decision has therefore been taken for the car parking to remain as it was before with each allocated space being used by the person with the permit for that specific space.
The club will continue to monitor the car park and talk to its users over this season to see the best way forward and to implement any changes the following season.
For the pre-season games passes from the 2015/16 season will be valid.
At present no extra car park passes will be available for matches but the club will continue to monitor
Town CEO Brian Caldwell acknowledged the supporters concerns and thought it best to leave things as they are for now.
“We’ve listened to the concerns of the supporters who use the car park and have decided not to implement the proposed changes”, said Brian.
“We will continue to monitor the situation because an average of 200 unused spaces could help to bring extra income into the club and assist with our relationship with our neighbours.
"We would however ask that car park ticket holders ensure that they do park in their allocated bay numbers as we had issues in previous seasons which then has a knock on effect on all users”
