Head to Head: MK Dons

24 February 2017

Matt Bullin takes a look at how we've got on against MK Dons over the years

Since Milton Keynes Dons’ formation in 2004 they have only met Shrewsbury Town on 11 occasions. And The Dons hold a slight edge in the fixture having four wins, to Town’s three, while there have been four draws between the sides.

Last time the sides met was on the opening day of the season, when a Daniel Powell strike was enough to give the Dons a 1-0 victory at the Greenhous Meadow.

Prior to that match – the previous time the sides met was in the 2013/14 season – as they met twice in League One.

In the second match up between the clubs MK Dons took victory at Stadium mk with a thrilling 3-2 win.

Dele Alli, Chris Long and Dean Bowditch all struck for the Dons, while Ryan Woods pulled one back for Town before Joe Jacobsen scored a late consolation goal.

Earlier in that season when Town welcomed MK to the Greenhous Meadow, Graeme Turner’s men were held to a drab 0-0 draw.

The sides also met twice in League One in the 2012/13 season.

In March of 2013 Town escaped Stadium mk with all three points following a topsy-turvy game which saw them win 3-2.

Tom Eaves struck twice in three minutes to give Town a 2-0 lead, before a Ryan Lowe brace dragged the Dons back to 2-2, until a 70th minute own-goal from Antony Kay gave Salop the victory.

Earlier in that season Dean Bowditch struck in injury time to rescue a point for the Dons as the sides played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Greenhous Meadow.

Angelo Balanta struck on the stroke of half time to open the scoring, before goals from Luke Rodgers and Mark Wright gave Shrewsbury a 2-1 lead, until Bowditch ensured MK went home with a point with his 92nd minute goal.
