Shrewsbury Town hold the historical edge over their derby rivals Port Vale – having won 19 of the 52 fixtures between the sides. While there have been 18 draws in the fixtures and Vale have won 15 of the ties.In the most recent fixture between the sides, in November of last year, the points were shared as the sides battled to a 0-0 draw.
The sides met twice in the 2015/16 season in League One and in the second match of the season the points were shared again.
The sides played out a 1-1 draw at the Greenhous Meadow as current Shrewsbury man Louis Dodds gave Vale the lead, before Sullay Kaikai netted an equaliser, with Nathaniel Khight-Percival receiving his marching orders in injury time.
Earlier in that season it was the Valiants who came out on top with a 2-0 win at Vale Park.
Dodds opened the scoring for the home side before the three points were sealed by a late Michael O’Connor goal from the spot.
In the 2013/14 season the side’s also met twice in League One.
In February 2014, Town were held to a goalless draw by Vale at the Greenhous Meadow, as current Salop defender Jack Grimmer wore the black and white shirt.
Earlier in that season it was Vale who again came out on top in the tie – taking a 3-1 win at Vale Park.
Chris Robertson and Jennison Myrie-Williams both struck before the half hour mark, before Liam McAlinden pulled one back for Town after 59 minutes, but Shrewsbury’s fate was sealed in injury time as Jordan Hugill netted Vale’s third.
