Goalscorer's thoughts after draw in London

Town put in a much better second half performance at Wimbledon to come away with a hard earned point thanks to an Ian Black strike.

Black felt Shrewsbury deserved more than the 1-1 draw they picked up thanks to his goal and despite finishing the game with 10 men:

“I think we deserved three points. When we went down to 10 men it was backs against the wall but we held on and defended well. I think the goal we conceded was very poor from us as a group. But we fought back and we are a bit disappointed after we scored we backed off and stopped moving the ball”.
“When we did play we got behind them at times so we are disappointed we didn’t get the three points but then when you go down to 10 men away from home a draw isn’t bad”

The midfielder was disappointed with Ivan Toney’s red card and he believed the referee made the wrong call to show Ivan a second yelllow and dismiss the Newcastle loanee:
“I haven’t seen it. I am hearing that video evidence shows that he hasn’t touched him. But you can’t have a go at referees. If you did they would get hounded. I am sure we will have a look at it but I don’t think you can appeal it. Decisions like that can affect player’s careers. You suspend him and then we may go on a winning streak and he may not play again. I think the big man did well today but with the decision, I think at times the referee and the linesman some of the decisions today were very poor.”

Black scored the only goal for Town and he hopes it will be enough to keep him in the starting line-up in the future:
“I’ll take them when they come. I would love to score more. I’m back in the team and I have had a long time out. I have to work hard now and give the gaffer a headache for Tuesday and the games after that. I am glad for the group as it is a team game.”
“I think I have done very well when I have played. I’m disappointed I haven’t stayed in the team and I don’t know why but credit to the boys that have played. It is up to me to take my chance when I get it and I am positive when I get the jersey that I won’t let anyone back in.”

The Scotsman was impressed with the display of Shaun Whalley and he thought all the substitutes played a key role in getting the result:
“Shaun was disappointed after last week not to be started today but he has come on with the right attitude and I was very impressed with him. He livened it up a bit and got into areas where he can drive at people. Sometimes players like that can really help when they get into those areas. All three subs livened us up a bit. Credit to the team in the second half, I felt in the first half we were a bit lethargic but the tempo in the second half was much better and we got going.”

The 31-year-old admits Shrewsbury need to address their poor home form and he feels they have a great chance of doing that starting with Peterborough at the Greenhous Meadow on Tuesday:
“It is massive. It is a case of getting our heads down and winning. We have the ability in the squad and we will take each games as it comes. We will look at the one on Tuesday and go to get the win.”
