Jayson set to face Scotland in March
Shrewsbury Town are delighted that Goalkeeper Jayson Leutwiler has been included in the Canadian squad for their friendly with Scotland next month. The Town number one made his international debut against South Korea back in November and has now been called up for the game in Edinburgh on Wednesday 22nd March.
Leutwiler won’t miss any Town action as his call-up comes after the Port Vale game and he will return before the visit of Bolton Wanderers on 25th March.
Manager Paul Hurst was pleased that Jayson had been recognised for his good form at club level.
“I opened up the letter today and straight away my heart sank a little bit thinking about when it was going to be, but thankfully he can go there and not miss any games”, Paul told ShrewsWeb.
“It’s a good honour for Jayson and builds on when he went away and made his debut, so congratulations to him.
“It’s come at a time in his career where he probably thought it would never happen, so he’s making the most of it now and I’m sure he would like to be involved as much as he can.”
