Loan Update

20 February 2017

A weekly look at how our players are getting on away from the club

It was a busy weekend for Town’s loan players as they continue to see match action away from the club.

Former Town trialist Craig Curran grabbed a goal for Jim O’Brien’s Ross County on Saturday, but it wasn’t enough to stop them losing 2-1 at home to St Johnstone.

St Johnstone had taken the lead before Jim came on as a 61st minute substitute and with O’Brien on the pitch the Staggies managed to get themselves level, but a 91st minute goal from Chris Kane means that County now sit 9th in the SPL.

Ethan Jones’ Stourbridge were beaten 2-1 by top of the table Blyth Spartans on Saturday. A season high attendance of 1,376 watched the Glassboys as Ethan played 70 minutes, but he couldn’t find the net as Stourbridge remain fourth in the Evo Stick Northern Premier Division.

Callum Grogan enjoyed a difficult afternoon for Skelmersdale United as they were beaten 5-0 by Hednesford Town in the same division. The result leaves Skelmersdale 6 points adrift at the bottom of the league.

Grogan came up against fellow Town loanee Callum Roberts who has returned from injury in the last week. Roberts was a late substitute on Saturday after he had started in the 2-0 defeat to Buxton on Valentine’s Day.

Meanwhile, Kaiman Anderson was forced to start on the bench as Oxford City beat Hemel Hempstead Town 1-0. Anderson came on at half time with the City goal already scored and helped see out an important victory in the Vanarama National League South.
