Loan Update

24 April 2017

Take a look at how our loan players are getting on as the season reaches its climax

The regular season has ended for many of Town’s loan players, but two players will have their seasons extended as their sides made the play-offs in the respective divisions.

Shaun Rowley’s Slough Town will visit Leamington in the Evo-Stick Southern Premier League Play-offs after they drew 1-1 with Redditch United on the final day of the season. Redditch took the lead on 63 minutes when Luke Keen headed past Rowley. Slough then should have equalised from the penalty spot two minutes later, but Chris Flood’s effort was saved. However, they enjoyed more success from the spot in the final minute of the game when Liam Enver-Marum coolly slotted home to give Slough a point. A win would have seen them with a so-called easier tie against Merthyr Town, but instead they will take on Leamington who finished second in the league.

Another man who will be taking part in the play-offs this season is Ethan Jones. His Stourbridge side take on Workington tonight in the Evo-Stick Northern Premier League Play-offs. That comes on the back of a fantastic 4-2 win over Nantwich Town on Saturday. The Glassboys twice had to come from behind to see off Nantwich in an end to end game. Ethan started the match and was substituted on 64 minutes with Stourbridge by that point leading 3-2.

Meanwhile, Kaiman Anderson and Callum Grogan both got another ninety minutes under their belts for their respective clubs. Anderson’s Oxford City picked up a 1-0 win in their final home game of the season. Jefferson Louis' unorthodox first half strike was enough to seal the points as Oxford kept their third consecutive clean sheet. Meanwhile, Skelmersdale United’s difficult season ended on a brighter note as they drew 1-1 with Stafford Rangers. Skelmersdale were relegated a few weeks ago, but have shown good fight in recent weeks and they did so again on Saturday with Bevan Burey opening the scoring for United, before Levi Reid equalised for Stafford 10 minutes before the end of the game.

Finally, Callum Burton was recalled by Town before AFC Telford United’s game on Saturday. Telford lost 1-0 to Darlington, but secured their safety in National League North.
