Winger looking to keep good home run going
Shrewsbury Town’s in form winger Shaun Whalley is wary of the threat Coventry City pose ahead of their clash on Saturday.Town beat Charlton Athletic 4-3 on Tuesday night and whilst Shaun admits that it was a fantastic game to be part of, he is already looking forward to the visit of the Sky Blues.
“It was a brilliant game”, Shaun told the press.
“I said after the game that it wouldn’t have been as enjoyable for us if we hadn’t got the winner, but fortunately for us we did so it was a great game.
“There was a good feeling in the dressing room after the game because we got the three points, but I think a lot of us move onto Saturday now because we are not safe and until we are we won’t be too happy.”
Coventry sit bottom of League One, but that won’t be on Shaun’s mind come Saturday.
“Every game in this league is different”, Whalley admitted.
“I don’t go onto the pitch thinking about the previous game. Last season when we were getting beaten every week I would still go out and think ‘come on let’s try and win’, so your mind set doesn’t really change.
“I won’t be complacent on Saturday and I don’t think any of the other lads will be. We know that it’s going to be a tough game, but we are looking forward to it and hopefully we can get another three points.
“Coventry beat Gillingham the other week, so they can beat anyone on their day. But, we need to battle hard and fight for another result.”
Shaun has been in impressive form of late, scoring against Charlton Athletic on Tuesday and he is enjoying playing under Paul Hurst.
“I thought I did well last season, but that was under a different manager”, said Shaun.
“When the gaffer first came in here I was injured for a while, then I came back and then I was injured again, but now I’m getting a good run in the team I feel like I am playing well and hopefully that can continue.
“He’s a great fella. I get on with him really well and I’m just pleased that I’m doing well now and proving my worth to him. He likes to get the ball wide and play attacking football and that suits my game.”
