Head to Head: Millwall

9 December 2016

We take a look at our record against Millwall over the years

Town are chasing their first win against Millwall when they travel to The Den this Saturday, in what will be only the fifth time meeting between the two sides.

Last season the sides met twice in League One with Millwall coming out on top on both occasions.

In April of this year, Town lost 3-1 at The Den, after goals from Ben Thompson, Steve Morison and Lewis Gregory cut out Larnell Cole’s early opener.

Earlier in the 2015/16 season Millwall also came away with all three points when the sides met at the Greenhaus Meadow. James Collins’ 55th minute strike gave Town the lead, only for Steve Morison to equalise just four minutes later, and Lewis Gregory sealed the win for Millwall by scoring a penalty.

Before that match the sides had not played in 18 years. The match up on 21 February 1997 ended in a 1-1 draw, and it is the only point Town have earned versus The Lions in four matches.

Earlier in the 1996/97 season Millwall beat Town 2-1 at The Den, in a season which ended in relegation from League One for Town.

So come Saturday The Lions will be looking to continue their unbeaten record against Town, whilst Town will be hoping to earn some points to start their push up the league table.
