Get the tailor-made experience with Shrewsbury Town's Sunday Lunch
James Motley is Shrewsbury Town’s Hospitality Manager and he spoke to ShrewsWeb about the Sunday Lunch service that the hospitality team offer.James told ShrewsWeb: “Right throughout the season we’re always doing the Sunday lunches – which we’re trying hard to bring back to the club.
“I know back in the day with Miguel [Hidalgo], who quite a few of us here have worked with in the past, had a great Sunday lunch going here at the club and we want to bring that back.
“We want to give a traditional Sunday lunch experience.”
One service James and his team have added is a traditional beef carving trolley so the customers can be served beef at the table.
Shrewsbury Town offer a full three-course meal every Sunday for the bargain price of £16.95.
“A full, homemade, three course meal - for the price we offer is crazy really. It’s such good value for money.
“We’re only charging what some places charge for a real informal carvery dinner – whereas we’re offering full table service, full restaurant service – the full package really.”
James admits when he started in his role the numbers for Town’s Sunday lunches were very low, though after a few tweaks to the service, numbers have risen.
He said: “Now we’ve got it up to a good, consistent average of between 45 and 65 each week.
“And on top of that, the beauty of the facilities we’ve got here is that it leaves us room to do private lunches and to have a restaurant running as well.
“With the set up we’ve got it leaves us huge amounts of flexibility to tailor-make things for people.”
Hospitality can also offer a more private setting for lunches too by utilising the executive boxes.
James concluded: “The feedback we’ve had all year has been extremely positive.
“So I’m really pleased for the team because they do work hard and they really embrace it.”
