Leutwiler: We Have Defended Well

Town goalkeeper targeting third clean sheet at Cobblers

Goalkeeper Jayson Leutwiler is targeting his third clean sheet of the season when Shrewsbury Town travel to Northampton on Saturday.

The 25-year-old, signed from Championship side Middlesbrough this summer, has played in net in all four of Town's games so far this season.

Leutwiler had little to do in Shrews' 4-0 win over Accrington Stanley on Tuesday, and he hailed the players in front of him for defending well when required to.

"As a goalkeeper you need all the team, particularly the four defenders, to defend in front of you," said Leutwiler.

"They help me to keep a clean sheet and they need to be there to react when you make a save.

"You still have to concentrate on the game and talk to your defenders, though.

"It's more difficult because you have to stay concentrated all the time."

The Swiss stopper kept his other clean sheet in the 1-0 win against Blackpool in the Capital One Cup at the Greenhous Meadow.

And he's been pleased with his start to life as a Shrewsbury Town player.

"It's been good so far, we've played four games and haven't lost any yet," said Leuwtiler.

"We hope this can continue because it has been a very positive start."
