Micky: Norwich Challenge Excites Us

Manager believes Town will cause the Canaries problems

Manager Micky Mellon believes Shrewsbury Town can cause plenty of problems for Norwich City in the Capital One Cup Third Round game at the Greenhous Meadow on Tuesday night.

Town host the Canaries looking to reach the last-16 of the competition, having already dumped out Championship side Blackpool and Premier League newcomers Leicester City in the earlier rounds.

Neil Adams’ Norwich sit second in the Championship as things stand, having been relegated from the top flight last season, and Micky is confident his side can put on a good show against the Canaries on Tuesday evening.

“It’s a huge game and one which we’re all very much looking forward to,” said Micky.

“It will be a cracking challenge for us against a very good team, but we’ll be able to go out there and show what we’re capable of against one of the best teams in the Championship at the minute.

“It’s going to be a tough game, but we’ll make it tough for Norwich as well because I believe in my players and that they can operate against these kind of outfits.

“They can go and express themselves under the lights and entertain the Shrewsbury public.”

Micky wants to keep the Capital One Cup run going after special nights in Town’s season saw them knock out higher-league opposition in the first two rounds.

“To get to the next round of any cup keeps the romance going, and the fans love it,” he said.

“It’s another moment that we could have in a so far good season. It would be great to put another moment together with what we’ve already achieved with the Leicester and Blackpool results.

“I think it will be a keenly-contested game, and one that both teams will be desperate to win.

“We’re delighted to be at home, we’d have taken anybody at home.

“Whoever we got, it was always going to be tough because football at these levels is.

“We’ll just pick a team that we believe can go and get us a result.

“It would be fantastic to really get the place rocking as well because the players respond to that."
