Fraser Fyvie Returns To Wigan

24 February 2014

Injury sees Fraser return to parent club and loan end

Fraser Fyvie has returned to Wigan Athletic after a knee injury meant that he missed the win away to Notts County and prevents any loan extension.

His initial month-long loan was set to expire after the weekend but Fraser picked up an injury in training on Thursday and will now return to the Latics.

Jackson said: “He will have to go back. He has a fresh air shot on Thursday, went home, got up the next morning and he could hardly bend his knee.

“So obviously we can’t commit to taking a loan player for another month if we don’t know he is going to be fit, especially financially.”

Jacko’s central midfield options had already been stretched, with Luke Summerfield and Aaron Wildig also currently out of action.  It means Town are a little light in the midfield and the Town manager might have to look at bringing in more options:”It has left us a bit short and that is something we will be looking at now in the next couple of days: Do we need to strengthen in a couple of areas as well?

“They have got to be the right ones. We have got (regular right-back) Ryan Woods who can play in the middle of the park but that means we would need a right-back really so there’s options we have got to look at.

“We might need to do it but if someone comes in it, has got to be someone who is better than what we’ve got or at least (someone capable of) challenging (them)”
