Town travelled to Oldham looking to bounce back from the heavy midweek defeat against Rochdale and they started the game well.

Despite five attempts on goal in the first ten minutes Town conceded two goals early in the game following silly errors and this made it a tough task for the visitors.

Town saw plenty of the ball throughout the game but just couldn't turn the chances into goals.

Oldham scored a third goal on 70 minutes to add to visitor’s frustration. 

Lessons that can be learnt from the game - Overall a good attacking performance but we must learn to capitalise on our high percentage of pressure. 

After the game Bernard McNally spoke to ShrewsWeb and was pleased with parts of the performance and disappointed with others:”It was frustrating as we played well and had opportunities before they scored, we had about five good chances in 10 minutes.

“We didn’t take them and against the run of play they scored two sloppy goals, we pretty much gave them first goal as the keeper should have picked it up but he chose to let it go for a corner.

“Oldham changed their shape to counter us as we were having all of the possession and that shows how we were doing.

“We continued to create chances through the game but again we didn’t take them and Oldham managed to add a third late on.

“It is about development so i can get away with results like this but the players need to start getting the win and build the confidence.

“We’ve got Walsall on Saturday and want to get into the game as Walsall are a strong side who play good football so we will need to be at our best.”

Town take on Walsall on Saturday at the Shrewsbury Sports Village in Sundorne so with the first team playing on Sunday why not pop down, kick off is 11am and admission is free.
