Midfielder sees Greenhous Meadow as helpful for signings
Andy Robinson has stressed the importance of Shrewsbury Town's run of home pre-season friendlies in helping to make the Club's new signings familiar with the Greenhous Meadow.Town have already hosted Chesterfield, West Bromwich Albion and Watford, with Scottish Premier League club Kilmarnock next to visit on Saturday.
Robinson, one of 16 players brought to the club by manager Micky Mellon over the summer, said playing so many home games so quickly was very helpful.
He said: "I think that's been vital because it's bedded the lads in to getting to know the ground, the familiarities of the pitch and the surroundings.
"That's been brilliant for the lads because normally when you play pre-season friendlies you're giving back to local clubs and non-League.
"That's always been the case over my career so for me to get on our home pitch for three games with another one to come on Saturday against Kilmarnock is great.
"We've then got two away games which we'll look forward to as that's different preparation that we've got to do.
"The lads are gelling quite well and it's been good to have four home games here leading into the season. That will stand us in good stead."
The former Tranmere, Swansea and Leeds midfielder is now looking forward to taking on Kilmarnock this weekend.
"In the pre-season friendlies you get a chance to play against all different types of teams that you wouldn't play against week in week out," he added.
"It's a good test first and foremost and it's a good gauge on where you are in terms of your fitness and where you are in terms of the team gelling.
"Pre-season games are vital to what you're going to do the first 10 games of the season."
