Gaffer looking forward to Chelsea test

Town were handed a plum home draw in last night’s Capital One Cup draw after being paired with Premier League leaders Chelsea.

The fourth round draw is reward for Town’s previous good form in the competition with victories away to Premier League Leicester City and home wins against Championship sides Blackpool and Norwich City.

Town managed Micky Mellon is delighted with the draw and looking forward to welcoming Jose Mourinho and his side to the Greenhous Meadow:”I am absolutely delighted at the draw and it’s a fully deserved reward for what we have done in the previous rounds.

“To beat Blackpool, Leicester City and then Norwich City shows that we are capable of giving anyone a game.

“It is a massive game for the club, for the fans and for the town of Shrewsbury and hopefully we can make everyone proud.

“The game is a long way off and there are six league games before the Chelsea game, on paper this looks like the toughest run of games that we have faced so far.  I hope we can harness the excitement and energy of the draw and take it into these very important league games.”
