Grandison happy with pre-season

26 July 2014

Defender glad to return to fitness for League Two campaign

Jermaine Grandison is keen to reap the rewards of a full pre-season as he looks forward to the 2014/15 campaign with Shrewsbury Town.

The defender is feeling good and enjoying pre-season having missed out last year when he was recovering from surgery following a hip injury.

Jermaine said: "I'm feeling really good at the moment, I'm feeling really fit and I'm getting fitter as the weeks are going on so I'm just looking forward to keep kicking on.

"Last season was difficult for me. I was in and out of the team due to my injury so I wasn't really getting fit and I was struggling in games so this season it's been good to get the hard work in and all the running to be ready and fit for the start of the season."

Jermaine said Town's new-look squad were gelling well as they continue to work hard on the training ground.

"It's going really well," he added. "It's been tough but I think we're all enjoying it at the same time. Training's been really good.

"All the lads have gelled together really well so far so it's been a good start and we've been doing really well in the pre-season games which is a positive. We just can't wait to keep kicking on and doing well.

"We've shown we can play against top opponents so now we have to take it into our other pre-season games and keep improving as a team and then take it into the season and have a very good season."

Next up for Shrewsbury is Saturday's home friendly against Scottish Premier League club Kilmarnock.

"I'm looking forward to it but I look forward to all the games I go into," said Jermaine. "We just want to work hard and give a good performance. Hopefully we can get a win as well."
