Promising youngsters joins Lambs on loan

Promising young defender Dom Smith has joined Conference North side Tamworth on a month’s loan.

Dom will be joining up with a familiar face in Andy Morrell, who took over the managerial hot seat at Tamworth on Tuesday.

Dom who has come through the youth ranks at Town signed pro terms at the end of last season and made his first team debut during the pre-season.  He has recently been away with the Welsh U18s and captain the side in their victory over Montenegro.

The paperwork for the move has been completed and Dom will be available for the Lambs weekend game FA Cup qualifying game against Rushall Olympic.

Town’s manager Micky Mellon is hoping the move will give Dom some good first team experience:”It’s good for Dom to go out to Tamworth on loan and hopefully get some first team games under his belt.

“He’s shown here than he has the potential to become a player and this move will help him to continue to develop.

“Dom is a good young player and one that we and a lot of other people rate very highly so hopefully he will do well during the month.”
