Hurst: "I'm just raring to go now"

28 March 2013

Return to Town is the perfect move for James

James Hurst insists returning to Shrewsbury Town on loan from West Bromwich Albion is the perfect move for him.

Hurst was delighted to link up with the Town squad once again this morning ahead of travelling up to Carlisle where Shrewsbury face an important game at Brunton Park tomorrow afternoon.

"It's nice to be back and I was happy when I got the call to come back," said Hurst. "I'm just raring to go now.

"I didn't know if I was going to go out on loan again before the end of the season. I would have been happy to stay and try and fight for my place at West Brom but coming back here is perfect.

"I said to my agent that Shrewsbury would be the perfect club if I was going to go anywhere as I know all the lads."

Hurst, who played seven league games and two FA Cup ties for Town last season, agreed it was ironic that an injury to Cameron Gayle, a team mate at West Brom, should play a part in clearing the way for his own return to Shrewsbury.

He said: "You don't want to come in ahead of your mate but things happen and you have to take your opportunity when it comes.

"I thoroughly enjoyed myself last time. It's a big, open pitch here for me as an attacking full back. The FA Cup games were good and it was nice to play at Middlesbrough so it was a good loan move."

When Hurst was with Shrewsbury last season, the target was promotion, but now he comes back keen to help the club be successful in their fight to stay clear of the League One relegation zone.

"It's a similar situation in that we're fighting for wins, even if it's fighting for survival or promotion," he said. "I think we need to get two more wins and we should be fine, and I think we'll do that.

"The core of the team is still pretty much the same and I got on well with the lads when I was here last season."
