Clark: Luton More Important

Midfielder now concentrating on league form

Midfielder Jordan Clark thoroughly enjoyed Shrewsbury Town’s win at Leicester City on Tuesday but has stressed how Saturday’s league game against Luton Town is more important.

The 20-year-old played his part as Town knocked the Premier League Foxes out of the Capital One Cup at the King Power Stadium in midweek.

Micky Mellon’s side are unbeaten in all competitions this season and return to League Two action against John Still’s Luton at the weekend.

And Clark believes it is more important for Town to maintain their league form, currently sitting sixth in the table.

“You look at the Leicester game and think – I want to be playing in those sorts of games every week,” said Clark.

“Any team you got to, you’re not guaranteed to play and you’ve got to work for your spot, but I think that’s what I’ve done.

“This (Luton) game is just as important, if not more though. We need to keep winning our home games and keep trying to push to get to the top of the league.”

The former Barnsley man is targeting a push for promotion this season as Town look to bounce back from last season’s relegation from League One.

“It would be unbelievable if we could get promoted. I think it’s what the Club needs.

“With the way we’re playing at the moment, it looks really exciting for the season.”
