Young defender takes international bow
Young Shrewsbury Town defender Dominic Smith enjoyed the perfect end to the season by winning his first Wales under-19 cap last night.
Shrewsbury-born Smith, 17, about to become a second year scholar at the Greenhous Meadow, is eligible to play for Wales owing to his grandmother.
And, having received his first call up to the under-19s, who are managed by Geraint Williams, he was introduced off the bench for the final 15 minutes of the the 3-0 victory over Northern Ireland at the home ground of Airbus UK.
"Dom did very well and looked comfortable," said Wayne Evans, Town's head of youth who watched the game. "He enjoyed the experience and he had a lot of family members there to support him.
"We'll now get feedback from Geraint Williams as to how he did throughout his time with the squad."
Smith has been a regular for Town's reserve team in the Central League this season.
