Tom Bradshaw keen to end on high note

Bradders hoping for winning end to a disappointing Town season

Tom Bradshaw insists Shrewsbury Town are determined to end a disappointing season on a high note at Gillingham on Saturday.

Town's relegation was confirmed with last weekend's 4-2 defeat at home to Peterborough but the striker said the will to win was as strong as ever.

"It's impossible to go into a game not wanting to win," said Bradshaw. "You're born with that hunger to win games, to score goals, to win your tackles, win your headers.

"That doesn't go away just because there's supposedly nothing at stake.

"There's a lot at stake for the fans, whether it's a good last game and something to cheer about, or to get a win.

"It will do ourselves the world of good just to get a win. We can't now avoid relegation but why not take a win into the start of next season?"

Bradshaw knows it has been a tough season but believes boss Mike Jackson is the right man to lead the revival next season.

The Wales under-21 international said: "He knows how the place works as he's been here for a few years. I've known him since I was in the youth team and he's very good at his job.

"The results might not have worked in his favour towards the end of the season, but he's a good manager from what I've seen and he's definitely a good coach.

"He's helped me out over the years, he's helped me bring my game on, so I hope he does get the job."

It's been an up and down season for Bradshaw who has been in and out of the team but he's keen to add to his goal tally having scored twice in the last three games since returning from injury.

He said: "I've had 18 starts this season and scored seven goals, that's the best return of my career. In pre-season I scored three in four, in the reserves I've scored two in three, so I've been scoring goals all season.

"If I had maybe played 30, 35 games who knows how many goals I might have scored?"
