Strike Comes In On Loan

30 August 2013

Curtis Main joins ahead of the Coventry game

Graham Turner has bolstered his attacking options ahead of the weekend’s game with Coventry City by bringing in Curtis Main on loan from Middlesbrough.

21 year old Main comes in on an initial 28 days youth loan from the Championship side.

Curtis started his career as a 16 year old at Darlington and played over 60 games for them before making the short trip to join Middlesbrough.  He’s made nearly 30 appearances in the Championship and cup competitions for Boro.

It’s good news for GT who has been looking to bolster his attacking options but with both Tom Bradshaw and Jon Taylor scoring last week he now has a pleasant selection headache:”It’s an initial 28 day youth loan from Middlesbrough for their striker Curtis Main.

“He’s played in their Championship side a number of times after starting his career at Darlington and playing a lot of games for them from the age of 16.

“He’s been in and around the first team at Middlesbrough for a couple of years and having allowed us to take Adam Reach and been pleased with the way we have treated him Boro are happy for Curtis to come here.

“The difficulty now for me is that Curtis won’t be in Shrewsbury until later today so the players haven’t met him or trained with him so do I played him or wait until he’s trained with us properly.

“It’s a decision I’ve got to make and with both our strikers scoring at Rotherham last week it’s going to be a tough one.

“We’ve bolstered the squad now with Curtis and he’s a very exciting prospect to have in our ranks.”

Curtis now joins fellow Boro youngster Adam Reach at the Greenhous Meadow with Town having a number of good contacts at the Championship side:”Danny Coyne knows Curtis from his time at Middlesbrough and Adam Reach also knows him well so he should easily fit in.

“I’ve also got good contacts at Middlesbrough such as Mark Venus and he has spoken highly of Curtis.

“The quality and professionalism of the young players at Middlesbrough is very good and we are pleased to have another with us.”
