Town’s youngsters made the trip over to Loughborough to take on Burton Albion in the second round of the Alliance Cup north.

In recent games Town had been performing ok but not getting the results down to the lack of that cutting edge in front of goal.  Against Burton it was a case of the performance not being as good as the recent standards but the finishing was much better and Town returned home 4-1 winners.

Town got off to a great start and were 1-0 up within 10 minutes from a Jeff Watkins goal but a lapse in concentration gave Burton a chance which they took to make it 1-1.  Town to their credit kept going and kept creating chances and went into the half-time break 2-1 up thanks to Joe Kenton strike.

In the second half Burton changed their formation to try and get back into the game but this also allowed Town to counter attack a little more.  This saw Town manage to take a couple of their chances with Tom King netting on 63 minutes and Kaiman Anderson adding a fourth goal on 77 minutes.

In the end Town kept working to stop Burton getting back into the game and in the end ran out comfortable winners to book their place in the next round of the Alliance Cup.
