GT hoping to add another game at the GM

Excitement is beginning to build ahead of Shrewsbury Town's pre-season friendly against Galatasaray at the Greenhous Meadow on July 13.

And now manager Graham Turner has revealed there could be more foreign opposition heading to the Meadow later this month if agreement can be reached.

He said the fact that Shrewsbury is not too far from Burton where overseas teams are heading for pre-season training camps at the FA's St George's Park could work in the club's favour.

"It could be the start of a period when we get teams like this because of the opening of the FA centre at St George's Park at Burton," said GT.

"Many of the foreign teams are coming over and basing themselves there and are looking for practice matches.

"We're still trying to fit one in for the last weekend of pre-season. It could be a French team, it could be a German side, so there's that opportunity now for the players to pit their wits against absolutely top quality players.

"At the moment French and, in particular, German football is on a high. It's probably the best league in Europe having provided the two Champions League finalists last season.
